Project Title: Development of an Autonomous Aerosol Sampler for Measurement of Atmospheric Inputs to Estuarine Systems
Principal Investigator(s): Cameron Wake

Accomplishments
Scheduled Tasks:

  • writing user manual for sampler
  • parallel sample collection with AAS and standard manual system; comparison of results (April, May 2001)
  • preparing paper for publication

Progress on Tasks

  • Samples and blanks were collected on filters again in April and May. Blanks collected during all of the sampling periods for both the Teflon (which collect samples for aerosol Cl, NO3, SO4, Na, NH4, K, Mg, and Ca) and Nylasorb (which collect samples for HNO3) filters show concentrations that are orders of magnitude lower than in the samples.
  • Second draft of paper for publication has been completed
  • Collection of 6 hour samples during Asian dust storm event in April, 2001.

Difficulties Encountered
To date, only with flow meter discussed above
