RESEARCH ADMINISTRATOR/PROGRAM MANAGER (Project Director II)

DEPARTMENT: Cooperative Institute for Coastal and Estuarine Environmental Technology (CICEET), University of New Hampshire

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the general supervision of the UNH CICEET Co-Director, the individual holding this position will manage and be responsible for research administration, multiple program management and technology transfer for the NOAA-UNH Cooperative Institute for Coastal and Estuarine Environmental Technology (CICEET).

RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage multiple research programs funded by CICEET awards from NOAA ($6.55mill in FY 03). This includes coordination of the distribution of research and development funds via open competition, including RFP development and distribution, and management of CICEET's competitive review process; evaluate technical and financial progress reports and assure research and financial goals are on target; assess discrepancies and problem-solve issues with principle investigators (15-20 projects are funded each year). Work collaboratively with CICEET Co-Directors and staff to prepare and submit technical and financial reports. Coordinate and plan conference sessions and workshops involving CICEET investigators. Determine the need for and desirability of national conference session topics, determine presenters and appropriate attendees. Assist the UNH Co-Director with preparation and submission of grant applications. Assist with the coordination of CICEET's research efforts with other federal and state programs. Assist CICEET Co-Directors, staff and project investigators with transferring CICEET-developed technologies to end-users. Maintain knowledge of current state-of-the-art and recent advances in relevant topical areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. marine science, civil and environmental engineering, environmental management), and three years experience in research administration or program management, background in coastal/estuarine science or Bachelors degree and five years experience. Candidates should possess strong organizational, management, writing and computer skills and experience.
